We are a small farm in northern Guilford County, NC. Our love for fainting goats started with 2 does used to clear some land. Pickles and Daisy quickly became family. I am often asked "why kind of goat do you have"? We have Myotonic or Fainting goats. The Myotonic Goat or Tennessee fainting goat is an American breed of goat. It is characterized by myotonic congenita, a hereditary condition that may cause it to stiffen or fall over when excited or startled.
Myotonic goats are vigilant animals that are quieter than other goat breeds. Other important differential characteristics of the myotonic goat include very teachable/trainable, stiffness, high quality adaptation to low-input farm land and foraging, and cross-breeding creating hybrids leading to physical strength and good health. Our goats are not crossbred and are 100% Myotonic/Fainting goats.
These goats are slightly smaller than standard breeds of the goat, fainting goats are generally about 17" to 25" tall and can weigh anywhere from 60 lb to 175 lb. Ours are typically on the smaller side. For more information click this link to Wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fainting_goat
We have a round of new baby goats about twice a year. Currently we have 5 available that are 15 weeks old.
